Is white a color? Do we need to conceder white in our design? I often get asked this question.

Ladies & gentleman white is definitely a color and should be considered as so in your home design.

Most people think that white is a neutral background-color and therefore should not be considered. You can use white to signify cleanliness, purity or softness.

When we take a color pallet for our home design, if the walls are painted white or if there is anything else in the room that is white, it needs to be considered. Ignoring the white color in your room will just create a design that is not flowing and when we will finish this design the feeling will be that it’s not finished, that something is missing but we will not know what is missing.

What is the color white?

• White objects fully reflect and scatter all the visible wavelengths of light.
• In ancient Egypt and ancient Rome, priestesses wore white as a symbol of purity, and Romans wore white togas as symbols of citizenship.
• It was the royal color of the kings of France. According to surveys in Europe and the United States, white is the color most often associated with perfection, good, honesty and cleanliness.
• White was one of the first colors used in art. In ancient Egypt, white was connected with the goddess Isis. The priests and priestesses of Isis dressed only in white linen, and it was used to wrap mummies.

So now that you understand what is the color white and why you should conceder it in your home design, you should go back to your house look at your rooms and check if you considered white in your design. You will be surprised by the difference it makes when you see it now knowing about the color white.
